Sun, Sand, Surf and Snow!

We just returned from a fabulous 4 days of warm sun in Puerto Rico with our friends Lauren and Dan and their two kids, Sammi (3) and Jordan (9 months). Abby had so much fun, particularly running around the resort and frolicking in the pool. She played with Baby Jordan and Sammi and ate and splashed around until her little heart was content. Abby was NOT a fan of going into her stroller, which caused her parents an enormous amount of grief numerous times, since everything in her new environment was worth touching, licking and smelling (everything except sand, which she also did not seem to enjoy very much).

Unfortunately, when we returned from the wonderful sun and warm weather, it was less than 24 hours later that the snow started falling here and kept falling, took a break and fell some more, for a total of about 8" of fresh powder and 3" of slush and ice. We dressed Abby up in her snowsuit from last year (note to self: get snow pants for this year as last year's suit was a bit snug!) and Sadie, Abby and I ran around and played in the snow. Turns out she likes walking in the snow more than sitting/playing in it! Sadie, on the other hand, had the time of her life rolling around in the snow and came back inside with icicles stuck to her ears and paws!

Abby also turned 18 months and had her 18-month check-up when we returned from Puerto Rico. She weighed in around 21 lbs, 12 ozs (I say "around" because she was squirming like a fish on the scale), which is around the 15% for girls and finally broke the 30" mark at 30.5" (25%). The doctor was impressed with how she eats and talks and Abby got her final vaccination, the MMR.

Now it's holiday time and so far, after just one night of Hanukkah, Abby has cleaned up with gifts! I am sure everything that she has gotten will provide her with hours of enjoyment on the next snowy day!

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and Happy New Year, whether you are lucky enough to be in the sun of Puerto Rico or a big snowstorm (ala NY or Chicago)!
